Francesc is the Programme Manager for the Human Hereditary and Health in Africa (H3A) consortium. He has responsibility for the day-to-day management of research operations for H3A diabetes, a project aiming to elucidate the genomic and environmental determinants of diabetes in Africa (http://h3africa.org/).
Francesc has a multidisciplinary background and professional experience as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in Barcelona and clinical researcher and project manager at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, and the Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. He also has first-hand experience of clinical research management and working on international multidisciplinary initiatives including the International Guillain-Barré syndrome Outcome Study (IGOS) in Scotland and Bangladesh, and translational research projects on point-of- care diagnostics in Sweden and Western Uganda.
In previous posts as an EMT in Peru and project manager in Uganda Francesc gained direct experience of the positive impact global initiatives in research can have on developing populations. His role with the Sandhu Group enables him to continue pursuing his goal of improving community health through research development, education and capacity building.
