The Department of Medicine is the largest Department in the School of Clinical Medicine, with 700 staff, students and visitors, and around £168M in annual competitive grant income.
The Department of Medicine houses four Sections – the Scientific Sections Perioperative, Acute, Critical Care and Emergency Medicine (PACE), CardioRespiratory Medicine (CaRM), Immunology and Infectious Disease (IMID), and the NHS-focussed Section Specialty Medicine, Research and Training (SMaRT).
We house three Institutes – the Cambridge Institute of Therapeutic Immunology and Infectious Disease (CITIID), the Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Heart and Lung Research Institute (HLRI) and the Cambridge Centre for AI in Medicine (CCAIM). Our staff and students are based in the main building at Addenbrooke’s, the Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre, the Heart and Lung Research Institute, and the MRC-LMB. Our work extends from biomedical research through to the clinic, and is linked to work throughout the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, the UK and the wider international community.
